A Place to Slow Down and Understand

You may know exactly what brings you to therapy, or you may only know that something feels difficult, disconnected, or no longer sustainable.

Perhaps anxiety has become difficult to quiet. A relationship pattern keeps repeating. Your experience of your body or food feels consuming. A transition has unsettled your sense of direction, or past experiences continue to shape how safe, connected, or present you feel today.

Individual therapy offers room to slow down and understand what is happening with care and curiosity. You do not need a fully formed goal or the right words to begin. We can start with what you know and make space for what is still becoming clear.

What Brings People to Individual Therapy

Adults may seek therapy for:

  • Anxiety, panic, depression, or emotional overwhelm

  • Trauma, attachment wounds, or difficult past experiences

  • Recurring relationship patterns

  • Eating disorders, disordered eating, or body image concerns

  • Identity, self-worth, or boundaries

  • Intimacy or sexuality concerns

  • Grief, loss, or significant life transitions

  • Perfectionism, shame, or persistent self-criticism

  • Faith or spirituality as it relates to identity and relationships

  • Difficulty understanding or expressing emotions

  • A desire for greater self-awareness and personal growth

These experiences rarely exist in isolation. Emotional, relational, physical, and personal concerns often overlap. Therapy makes room to understand the fuller context of your experience rather than reducing you to a symptom or diagnosis.

Care that Considers the Whole Person

The ways we respond to stress, conflict, vulnerability, and closeness often develop for understandable reasons.

Earlier relationships and experiences may shape how you seek reassurance, protect yourself, set boundaries, respond to uncertainty, or understand your own needs. Patterns that once helped you feel safe may eventually begin creating anxiety, disconnection, or difficulty moving forward.

Therapy at Maison Fleur is attachment-informed, trauma-aware, and relational. Together, we consider both what is happening now and the experiences that may be influencing it.

The goal is not simply to manage symptoms. It is to develop a deeper understanding of yourself while building greater emotional steadiness, flexibility, and capacity for connection.

Eating Disorders, Body Image & Embodiment

Food and body concerns can affect far more than eating.

They may shape identity, relationships, intimacy, self-trust, emotional regulation, and the ability to feel present within your body.

As a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS), I bring advanced training to work involving eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, and embodiment.

Therapy may support you in understanding the emotional and relational patterns connected to these concerns while developing a more compassionate and sustainable relationship with yourself.

When appropriate and with written consent, care may also be coordinated with physicians, dietitians, or other members of a treatment team.

Relationships, Intimacy & the Self

Individual therapy can be helpful when relationship concerns affect your sense of safety, identity, trust, or connection.

You may want to understand patterns that repeat across relationships, recover after betrayal or loss, strengthen boundaries, communicate more clearly, or feel more connected to your own needs.

Therapy can also provide space to explore sexuality, intimacy, shame, desire, body image, or the influence of earlier experiences and messages. You do not need to be in a relationship to explore these concerns.

What Individual Therapy Is Like

Therapy is collaborative, thoughtful, and intentionally paced. Early sessions focus on understanding what brings you here, what feels most important, and what you hope may become different.

Depending on your needs, therapy may help you:

  • Recognize patterns with greater clarity

  • Understand emotional responses and protective strategies

  • Strengthen emotional regulation

  • Develop healthier boundaries

  • Communicate your needs more directly

  • Process difficult or painful experiences

  • Build greater trust in yourself

  • Feel more present and connected within your body

  • Create more sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others

You remain an active participant in the process. The pace and focus are shaped collaboratively, with respect for your boundaries, values, and readiness. You will not be pressured to disclose anything before you feel ready.
